Christian Music: Do you believe that today’s contemporary Christian music is focused on the world more than Christ?

Today, more and more bands are dressed like the world more so than Christ.  They have tattoos, peircings, crazy hair styles, moshing, and throwing up goat horns  (Not really sure what that means).   Does this bother you as a Christian?  If Christ were here on earth today, do you think he would be happy with this? 

Christ says that if we want to be a part of him, not to be influenced by the worldy views, and let our senses be stimulated by worldly events.  Satan pulls our thoughts away from God in any way possible and is constantly looking for new ways to take our focus off of God.  To live with God, we must give him our full love and focus on Him every second of every day and give our all to him. Not an easy task to do I know.  But have we gotten soft and given up on working for Him each and every day.  Has satan become a part of Contemporary Christian Music?

At Florida Christian Concerts, we believe that Christ is at the center of all things good.  In other words, if a song is praising Christ and God then it is music that glorifies Him.  If the singer or band member is tattooed out or has piercings, so be it.  That is between him and God and if he chooses to persecute his body, that’s his choice.  However, if God has used him as a vessel to share His message than all props to the man rocking out!  It’s not easy to stand on stage and have talent to sing in harmony and rock out a tune simultaneously on your guitar, but most importantly, proclaim the Lord as your Savior and reason for living.   Especially, as a teenager in high school!  The world today is so worldy, and everything BUT focused on Christ!  Anyone who is willing to stand for Jesus in my opinion is doing the right thing, regardless of what they look like.

Always put yourself last.  This is a strong and personal commitment as a loving relationship with God that will last forever.  What is your choice?  With Christ all things are possible!

Now, there is no doubt, that people and bands are adapting to today’s views, and trying to be relevant in their music, but at the same time proclaim Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  Look at those who use to attend church.  Many no longer do so, simply because they believe Man has implemented rules that no longer line up with scripture.  Personally, I believe you need to attend church services to allow yourself the opportunity to fellowship with other believers or you will quickly become more worldy than those you are apparently protesting.

So long as Contemporary Christian Music does not cross the line and disrespect Christ or His Church, I give the benefit of the doubt and assumme they have His best interests at heart.  Now, that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to fall or sin, but it’s important they understand the conviction from God as reborn Christians and repent for their sins.  The feel good, perfect Christian world, is a  myth.  God will not always make us happy, in fact He has promised to ensure we have all we need and that is not necessarily happiness. 

Now if we look at the mass, they tend to be agonostic and usually don’t think to much about God until they are at a breaking point and can’t go on.  God has been with them the whole time asking for them to turn from their wicked ways and give their life to the Lord.  But it’s not easy in today’s society, to take a stand for Christ, nor was it probably easy in any society, but espeically in this microwave, MTV genearation.  We have been influenced by marketers to think it is okay to do this and do that or wear this and wear that!  Where are the parents?  Well, they’re not there, so deal with it.  But dont’ persecute those who are willing to get on stage and take a stand and then call them hypocrites. 

Any man or woman who is willing to reach out through music as a Christian artist is doing more good for society and the Kingdom of God than anyone who will not take a stand.  Regardless, of what they are wearing, they are doing the right thing.  We serve a God who is bigger and better than you could ever imagine.  Jesus will work through people to make them pure and to walk like Him.  Have faith in others and be quick to encourage those who are taking a stand for Christ and be quick to forgive.
